Ranking Records’s eleventh release saw Planas’s highly anticipated first full release
hit the shelves with a heavy dancefloor skankout, Agbekor: as a gut-wrenching glide
bassline sits below tripped out chords and frenzied African drumming, Planas finds
his space fusing tribal house and dubstep influences, resulting in a speaker shaker
of epic proportions.

Kutumba on the flip follows the same traces of four on the floor bounce, this time
Planas adding a healthy dollop of harmony and sweet lead synth pads making this
one the prettier of the two tracks. 2009 has been a busy year for the Ranking
Records camp, with 3 forward-thinking releases already under their belt, they have
rooted themselves firmly onto the playlists of DJ’s from both the Radio and the club
scene. RAN011 is another example of the label exploring new musical territory in
breathtaking style.
